Iron Snout Skins, the Best Fighters Ladder and Every Menu Button
Published · 3 min read
Iron Snout has almost no menus, which is part of why it loads so fast. There is a skin carousel with a Play button, a pause screen, and a game-over screen. But the few things on them are worth knowing, because they are where the long-term goals live. Here is the whole game outside the fight.
The skin carousel
The main screen is a row of pigs: the plain one in the middle is you, and the ones either side are outfits with a padlock on their chest. Click the arrows or the pigs to scroll. Each outfit is locked behind one of four lifetime stats: Total Kills, Total Hits, Best Combo or Items Caught. The list runs from simple costumes (Beach, Guard, Soccer, Pirate) through Ninja, Leprechaun, Cupid and Moon to the joke ones: Hambo, Gopnik, Saiyan, a Shrek pig, a Norris pig with the hat and beard, and a red Among Us crewmate. A red exclamation mark over a pig means that outfit's number is close or has just been reached. None of them change the fight; they are there so a bad run still moved a number that matters.
The four buttons top right
- EN switches the language: English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese and Arabic are in the build.
- The skull toggles blood. Off gives you the family-safe version; the game says "Turned off blood" when you flip it.
- The speaker and the notes are sound and music. Finer control is on the pause menu, where Music defaults to 30% and Sound to 70%.
Play, and the tutorial
Play starts you in the tutorial the first time: ten balloons, each showing an arrow, and you pop them by pressing that arrow. The wooden signpost in the corner shows the four keys the whole time. After that, Play goes straight into a fight. You can replay the tutorial from the pause menu (Escape) whenever you want; it is a good way to warm up the catch timing.
The pause menu
Escape opens Continue, Restart, Tutorial, the Music and Sound sliders and Retreat, with your live statistics on the right: Fight Time, Kills, Strikes, Hits, Best Combo, Weapon Kills, Projectile Kills, Projectiles Dodged, Items Caught and Heads Knocked Off. Retreat abandons the run and goes back to the skin carousel; the stats from the abandoned run still count toward unlocks.
The Best Fighters ladder
When the pig goes down, the game-over screen shows a kill total on a podium and slots it into a ladder of named pigs. The thresholds are fixed: Straw Pig 5, Wood Pig 10, Brick Pig 15, Peppa Pig 20, Ham Shady 30, Skibidi Swine 40, Rookie Pig 50, Pigachu 65, Skilled Pig 80, Sigma Snout 100, Pig Master 125, Hog Norris 150, Battle Boar 175 and God Tier Pig 250. It is a local board, not an online one, so it is really a list of goals: getting past Ham Shady means you have learned to catch, getting past Sigma Snout means you have learned to kick rockets.
Arenas and modes
The game's files still carry the City and Pirate Ship arenas and a Sudden Death (one-hit) mode from the Steam and mobile releases, but this web build puts every fight in the Forest under the normal bacon-bar rules, and there is no selector for them on the menu. If you have played the Steam version and are looking for the ship, that is why.
Progress
Unlocks and stats are saved in your browser's storage for ironsnout.io, so the same Chromebook keeps them between sessions. A different laptop, or a cleared browser, starts from zero.
